Ktm Duke 620 I/II (2003-2007): Supermoto homogeneity

Engine: Single cylinder, lots of torque from 3000 rpm, very linear and very powerfull at the top at 8000 rpm, launches the bike at high speed riding.
Depending on the friction factor between the road and the tyres, it will need more than 4000 rpm to drift nicely at the exit of the bend... Very low rpms should be avoided as there is a surging problem, up to 2500 rpm.

Even without modifications, engine is powerfull enough

On the road: In low speed riding its very agile, suspension is stiff and provides feedback for ...everything. At a high speed riding its very stable with tremendous feedback to the rider, allowing great lean angles. Drift at the turn in and exit of the corner is progressive, well controlled, nothing to worry about. On town rides  its thin shape, high handlebar, make it possible to take advantage of every gap in traffic. Stering lock could be better though. Vivid and amusing engine vibrations together with the jolly good agility and handling, add edge on the character and make every ride a temptation to play with. On soil  and bumpy roads  its comfortable and the tyres will set the limits, again. Brakes are simply superb.

Duke's brakes are better than what is expected

Other coments: Short trips can be attempted. However the saddle together with the limited air protection, both should be expected in this bike category, will make it tiresome after some time of riding in national roads.
Conclusively, the engine, frame and suspension co-operate immaculately, setting a true-bred motorcycle.
