During the 2012  World Ducati Week the “Diavel Drag Race” was conducted. That was an acceleration race on a Ducati Diavel Carbon, an 164 bhp motorcycle.

All the Superbike and MotoGP riders of the factory were there: Valentino Rossi, Nicky Hayden, Troy Bayliss, Carlos Checa, Silvain Guintoli, Jakub Smrz, Niccolò Canepa and Lorenzo Zanetti.

The procedure commenced, two riders were accelerating each time, each winner was to race again. The following couples were formed: Guintoli-Checa, Rossi-Canepa, Hayden-Zanetti, Bayliss-Smrz.
Hayden and Checa went to the semi finals easily, while Rossi passed Canepa difficultly. Bayliss was quite faster than Smrz, the Czech lost some time initially, wheeling. The Australian faced Hayden at the semi-finals, who lost due to a burn out. Rossi was faster than Checa because he had a steadier line on his bike.

At the final race, some 12 World Championships in motoGP and Superbikes were gathered. Bayliss starting faultlessly, won.
Rossi immediately congratulated him, admitting that he was slower and he had a worse start. He continued saying that it would be nice if he won, but its OK anyway. He was laughing meeting the other 7 riders, they performed long burn outs, the radiators and of their bikes were operating at maximum due to the high temperature in Italian Riviera.

Another significant incident at the 2012 World Ducati Week, was the wash of bike and rider, by some hot Italian girls. Jealous, anyone? Chances are that no one complained about remaining dirt after the wash this time!
