The 2014 Ktm RC125/200/390 (+video)
The new Ktm range has been unveiled at the Eicma motor show, verifying the leaked data of the previous days. The weight without fuel is 135 Kg (298 lbs) for the 125 bike, 137.5 kg (303 lbs) for the 200 variant and 147 kg (324 lbs) for the RC 390.
The frame and steering geometry are slightly altered with respect to the initial Duke siblings, which results into sharper cornering. The suspensions provide less travel and stiffer settings. A multifunction display and an ABS which may be disengaged are standard equipment. More data is provided further below.
Comment: The RC 390 has the daunting task to compete with the ninja 300.
The smaller variants of the RC 390 get different colors. The RC 125 is expected to deliver 15 bhp and 12 Nm torque, while the 200 variant will deliver 25 bhp and 19.2 Nm torque. The sibling on the racing livery combined with the Akrapovic exhaust is quite convincing in terms of racing looks, although the standard underslung unit looks quite nice also. These bikes derive fromt the Duke 125/200 variants. More news at the Eicma motor show in a few days time.
The single cylinder, six speed, 373.2 c.c. engine delivers 44 bhp which together with the 147 kg (324 lbs) weight without fuel makes the bike suitable to A2 norms.
Although the Trellis frame is very similar to the Duke 390, the trail and wheelbase (1340 mm-52.8 in.) are shorter. A 43 mm fork is equipped, there is no linkage at the shock. A 300 mm rotor and a four pistons radial caliper are featured at the front. The ABS is standard and it can be deactivated.
The clip-ons and the 820 mm seat height ensure a sporty riding feeling. The front tyre is 110 mm wide while the rear is 150 mm. A shifter light is there for the rider. The indicators are integrated at the front mirrors.
Comment: The sub-frame could be modular for a bike which is indented also for sporty use, although this could increase the price of the bike.
The faired versions of the Dukes are closing in!
It is believed that Ktm will unveil the full faired versions of the Duke 125/200/390 at the Eicma motor show. These road bikes should be identical except from the engine capacity. The fuel tank, clip-ons and the fairing of course should be the biggest differentiation compared to their Duke variants. A supermoto range could follow in the future, based on the Dukes.

20 days ago Ktm presented the bike for the RC 390 CUP. Based on this, a photoshoped picture was created, inserting a headlamp, mirrors, pillion seat-pegs and ditching the Acrapovic silencer for a under-belly slung one.
The decals resemble to the RC8. Although this is a rough idea for the new RC 390, it provides some very plausible hints in a typical Ktm approach.

KTM and ADAC presented the KTM RC390 Cup machine for the new “ADAC Junior Cup powered by KTM”, being introduced at the 2013 MotoGP of Germany at the Sachsenring.
For the coming year, the RC390 is to be the new machinery for the Brand Cup for up-and-coming young racers. By introducing the motorcycle that will be used for the 2014 “ADAC Junior Cup powered by KTM”, KTM takes another important step in extending its activities on asphalt.
Following the successful entry into the Moto3 World Championship – KTM brought the World Championship title to Austria in the premiere year – and the completion of the DUKE range of naked bikes with the 125, 200 and 390 displacement models, there will now also be a fully faired sports bike available for sale. In typical fashion, there is a direct connection to motorsports.
Naturally it is not difficult for the sports motorcycle manufacturer from Mattighofen, Austria, to make the connection between racing and series production.
In short: as always, KTM once again underlines that it is always “READY TO RACE” in every aspect by presenting the RC390 Cup at the eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland.

Both of these two projects were given the highest priority because the development of lower displacement, high quality street bikes are among our core activities. Ideal for young racers: KTM RC390 Cup The primary development objective of the fully faired RC390 Cup bike was to enable affordable junior racing with the best possible sporting potential. To achieve this, the Cup RC bike has a strong and reliable heart of the most modern kind. 375cc displacement, four valve technology, liquid cooled, two oil pumps, electronic Dellorto fuel injection – these are the core features of the single cylinder, four stroke engine that is set to release around 38 horse power in the Cup bike and, which incidentally will be very fuel efficient even at full throttle.

Comment: The design of the road version will be the same with the addition of a pillion saddle, headlamp, indicators, horn and a road legal silencer. That frame and subframe certainly look very robust for a 375 cc single engine!
KTM RC25 - A 250cc bike to be launched in India and the globe by 2014
The fully faired bike which could be named KTM RC25, will be sold in markets across the world and it will probably feature a single cylinder 250cc engine, which is expected to deliver around 30bhp and about 2.55 kgm (18.4 ft lbs). The price of this bike should be between that of the Ktm Duke 200 and 390.
Comment: That could be an explanation for the undersized 200 c.c. engine of the Duke 200, compared with the competition. However, if the figures above are correct, the twin cylinder ninja 250 c.c. should not be worried concerning performance. What about the upcoming Yamaha 250? Finally, some RC 25 variants featuring different engine displacements could be expected.
