Bmw has issued a notification to the 8000 owners of the 2014 liquid cooled R1200RT motorcycles worldwide equipped with the semi-active suspension “Dynamic ESA” that there is a potential defect to the rear strut.
For the time being there cannot be defined if the cause is the piston rod of the rear spring strut connected with the Dynamic ESA option, which  could break.
Hence, it is recommended that the R1200RT owners should not ride their bikes until further notice. An official recall has already been issued in Germany, probably as the 14 th Bmw Motorrad Days will be conducted on July 4, 5 and 6.

Recently Bmw has also issued a recall in April for the 2012-3 R1200GS concerning the transmission output seal. There was another recall in February concerning the 2013 C600 Sport, C650 GT, F700 GS, F800 GS, F800 GS Adventure, F800GT, R1200 R and R1200GS. This was due to water that could enter the side-stand switch.
